Post subject:  Exceptional Runes

Looking for a clarification on Exceptional runes. I don't recall who it was, but someone posted on the forums recently something about looking forward to Exceptional runes being unlocked for PC access. I looked through the FAQ/Errata and couldn't find anything about this.

There are a couple Exceptional runes in the FiM that only require T2. Is there currently something prohibiting PCs from purchasing a T2 Exceptional rune, assuming that they have 10Gc and an Exceptional item to put it on?

Thanks

Near as I can tell there is nothing preventing you from buying a T2 exceptional rune right now. It probably was referring to the vast majority of Exceptional Runes being T3 level.

You can purchase a rune above your tier, right? It jut doesn't function (fully) until you are the proper tier, right?

Nothing in the campaign guide prevents purchasing a rune above your tier. A rune though is either fully active or it's not. Scaling runes are an optional rule that to the best of my knowledge is not in effect. So, if you put an exceptional rune of celerity on a weapon, you'll get the -1 speed to a maneuver as soon as you hit Tier 3, but you don't get a -1 to recovery until then.

With a sweep of his hat,

Keep in mind you can only buy/transfer runes during adventures and the adventure must specify that a Rune Master is available to do so (Ask your GM).
