This is one of the "limited" martial techniques that is in CoH pg. 109, how exactly do you gain this maneuver? The only other time I see the maneuver mentioned is in "The Rage Within" on pg. 95 of CoH. which states:

"Tier 1: You may assume The Rage Within Fighting Style while enraged. You may use the Concentrated Rage Martial Technique."

I have searched the current (v4.0) errata and there is nothing clarifying how to get this and I see no paths which grant this either. Some clarification would be great.

Limited Talents are granted by Paths, Backgrounds, Race, etc. Unless it is 'unlocked' you cannot take it. If memory serves, T1 Rage Within gives you Concentrated Rage.

No it just says you can use it, it doesn't give it to you. I put the quote in the previous post. Should it be updated in the errata?

My view is that you gain it, but since it can only be used in rage they wrote it somewhat awkwardly. Feel free to put it in Erratta/Clarifications board, though.

I agree with Cody. It could be worded better but I read it as giving it to you.

Also, make sure you understand that you *must* have declared to be using the Fighting Style when you wish to use the technique.

Indeed. A Fighting Style is a "Stance", which means it does not stack with Forward Stance, Defensive Stance, etc.

Interesting. I'd missed (or forgotten) that. That makes fighting styles much more limited in possible combinations. On the other hand, neither of my current characters is likely to learn any fighting styles (possibly Tooth & Claw for my val'Dellenov but probably not).

I realize that this is a dead thread, but it was a logical place to put my question, instead of starting a new thread.

I would like a clarification on exactly how this maneuver works. It seems that there are two options, based on the wording of this section

Codex of Heroes p. 109 wrote:
"Choose a target, each time you attack that target, your Avoidance penalty for being enraged is reduced by one. Once this penalty is reduced to 0, you then begin to gain a +1 cumulative bonus to damage..."

So lets assume we have a Hero who is using Furious Rage (ta) and Concentrated Rage, attacking with a speed 4 weapon.

Option One
Tick 1: Attack with Concentrated Rage, Avoidance penalty becomes -1. Hero has recovery of 1
Tick 5: Basic attack against the same target. Avoidance penalty hits 0.
Tick 9: Any attack against target, +1 damage bonus. Hero has recovery X.
Tick 1: Basic attack against the same target, +2 damage bonus
Tick 5: Any attack against target, +3 damage bonus. Hero has recovery X
(and so on)

Option Two
Tick 1: Attack with Concentrated Rage, Avoidance penalty becomes -1. Hero has recovery of 1
Tick 5: Basic attack against the same target.
Tick 9: Concentrated Rage attack against target, Avoidance penalty hits 0. Hero has recovery 1.
Tick 1: Basic attack against the same target.
Tick 5: Concentrated Rage attack against target, +1 damage bonus. Hero has recovery 1
(and so on)

I am guessing that the intention was probably option two, but the wording of the maneuver seems to suggest the first one.
