According to Pedro's clarification elsewhere on the forum, that ruling applies only to inscribed runes. Spells and bloodline talents that produce a rune can put that rune in any slot. Moreover, with a spell (or talent), the user need not meet any Tier requirements as for an inscribed rune. I found that clarification last week on the forum when searching for rules on runes, and that's what led to my extra interest in the Sanctify Weapon spell. I apologize that I don't feel like taking time to search again to find that post. Sadly, way too many "official" rulings are only in the online forum and not printed anywhere that's easily accessible. |

One new question that just occurred to me... What is the deity-specific rune for Death Mongers? Do they get to choose one of the three (like they do for deity skill)? Similarly for Benediction of the Gods and deity-specific benefit? |

They are priests of all three gods, and would be able to choose from those three. I will clarify, though, that their theology 100% prevents them from ever becoming Pantheonistic Casters, as per the Orthodoxy path. They believe the other gods are dead, so it makes it rather difficult to become a caster for a dead god. |
