Yhing Hir Horse Lord Path (pg. 300 of the main rule book) and possible contradiction/redundancy.

Pardon if this has already been addressed previously, as I did not find any relevant info regarding this subject during my search or in the Errata.

The path has the requirements of having the Talents: Born in the Saddle and Loyal Companion. The Path then grants you the Talents: Loyal Companion (which stacks as it is a tiered Talent) and Animal Affinity.

Here is where I see the contradiction/redundancy: Animal Affinity is not a tiered Talent. Additionally, it is a prerequisite for the Talent: Loyal Companion (which is a prerequisite to access this Path). By the time one gains access to this Path, they will have obtained Animal Affinity twice (once for meeting the prerequisite of Loyal Companion, and a second time for gaining this Path) at which point does nothing. Was this redundancy done deliberately or did this slip through the cracks?

I believe it has been raised before a long time ago on the old forums. IIRC no modification or errata was offered. I believe (IIRC) that there was some speculation that you could potentially get the loyal Companion w/o taking animal affinity. You are correct that there is nothing in the errata (at least as far as I can tell...)

Experts can benefit form this Path in full. One of my PCs has Loyal Companion from Archetype, so still needs to get Animal Affinity before T2 advancing.

Redundancy is common in Paths.

I may have missed this, if it has been discussed before, but it seems to me there should be an errata for the Initiate to the Divine Trinity/Death Monger background that indicates it has the special that makes divine spell casting no longer a limited talent for the character, similar to the initiate of the gods background. Right now the only way for a death monger to have divine spell casting is to have the divine archetype. I see nothing in the text indicating this is intentional, but I could be wrong.

I may be wrong but I think there was a discussion when Blessed Lands first came out that it was intentional that Death Monger background does not grant Divine Spell Casting.

Unless I'm missing something, this discussion never deals with this topic in the slightest. Can you be more specific about where it is discussed?

One person notes that it is "interesting" that Death Monger background does not grant DSC. Nobody contradicts him or questions it further in that thread (that I see). I think there was also another thread but I'm not sure where right now.

Honestly I think the Divine Trinity is both rare enough in the campaign & and supported well enough through mechanics (primarily spell access) that i don't think it (the background) needs to grant access to DSC. If you are Divine Archetype you already have it. If you are Expert (or martial...) it's more problematical As a build than other initiates of Gods (like the PoM) but you can get still there through taking any one of three paths in Tier 1. And of course as an Expert you also get to make melee attacks at Tier ...

My 2 cents, I see this as an inconvience for some builds but not a major (power balance) issue.

The "omission" of DSC access from the background is not an omission. It is intentional.

Blessed Vitality (pg. 187 A:RG) & Sword Saint Path (pg. 297 A:RG) -

Sword Saint path grants the Talents Blessed Vitality and Strength of Faith. This path has only one Tier associated with it.

Blessed Vitality is a Devout, Tiered Talent, though not a Limited one, and has the requirement of being a Holy Champion in order to take (and proceed taking) this talent. As it stands, there is no way for a Sword Saint to gain the next Tier in Blessed Vitality unless they go through the ardent task of becoming a Holy Champion (by either already having the Templar Background, or having to pick up Templar Itinerant and then pick up Holy Champion).

Either manner, one is still busting at least two paths just to gain the next Tier in Blessed Vitality (if sticking with Sword Saint). Was this intentional for the Sword Saint Path?
