Just downloaded the Bestiary from RPGNow to check out the game.

Perhaps a stupid question:

What is "vaule"?

This is in the book several times.

For example, page 3 you have "Fate Vaule" on the sample creature sheet. On page 22 for the SSanu. Page 28 for the Voiceless One. You have this twice on page 44 "Encounter Tier Vaule: + 2.0". Etc, etc.

Can I assume this is supposed to be "Value" and not "Vaule"?

PS- this is not instilling confidence in me getting the game if this is the level of proofreading :D

Though the PCI guys are many things, they are ultimately not proofreaders, and while they have many volunteers willing to help them out, often they came up on deadlines much quicker than expected and/or something gets changed or added last minute even after edits have been done. There have been jokes for years about Pedro, the Stat Monkey and lesser god of typos (Shcoking Scimitar, anyone?). Still, we play for the story and the amazing world, not the errors that occasionally occur.

To your specific query, "vaule" is indeed actually supposed to be "value". iirc, the term was something else and changed at last minute before going to the printers, and it was a Search/Replace function with the incorrect spelling replacing whatever the old term was.

Well, again from the point of view of a prospective purchaser...I'm a little scared to proceed.

The Bestiary has been out since 2011 and something as simple as that hasn't been corrected yet. Part of me thinks "my god, am I the first one to buy this game and look at it"? Obviously that's not true, but I'm sure you get my point.

Your point is taken. To a certain extent I agree with you. It is a little sloppy. At the same time the Guys who run PCI have day jobs and there is a backlog of stuff that I would like to see hit the shelves such as the Blessed Lands book rather than a hunt for old (if irritating typos).

Joining the community and buying the game plugs you into an adult game world loosely based on the decline of the Roman Empire with over 80 hours of free modules to play. To say nothing of the future friends you could meet at Cons.

But vaule isn't the only typo you'll find. If that's sufficiently off putting to turn you off from a system then you'll have to look for offerings from larger companies.
