At the risk of having uncle Henry overturn my merchent's table and chase me out of the temple....
"What is the cost of a single live sacrafical quality chicken?" I ask because they are the perfect source of Blood Magic for Necromatic Primal healer. Let me explain.

Run out of enemies? Pound of Flesh a chicken for the healing power your party needs between combat.
Need to heal thy self? Vanquish a chicken with Streanth of Fallen Foes to heal yourself.
Want a quick boost to Might? Coupe de Gra a helpless chicken for wound damage, then cast Bloodlust as a push action.
Need a source of water in the Blessed Lands? Steal Water on a chicken.

Granted there is the whole issue of entering combat trying to herd chickens at a BI. Still you have to admit, it the idea has possibilities. The portability issue could be resolved favorabily if Chicken Eggs are considered living creatures....

Eric,

No, eggs are not living creatures and no, I wouldn't allow that tactic.

OK. I understand and accept that. Out of curiousity however is there a specific metaphysical reason why it would not work? Or is it simply too cheezy a tactic to allow to work for rules ballance?

:D The chickens went right after the Shanso but before the Chuul. Alas, without unicorns either there is just no good option for white meat anymore on Onara. Thank the gods for bacon. Still the elorii did plant a very nice tree to honor the memory of them.

I believe in the Blessed Lands they say everything tastes like scrub lizard. :P

(... I know, I know .... I'm not being being helpful)

Personally I would consider a Chicken to be a Minion-level creature, which means the would only have 1 stamina. This would limit their utility in most cases, as you can heal yourself more by simply making a TN: 15 Heal check on yourself.

Cody,

Good explaination/justification. I like it. But that does not explain the Bloodlust usage. However, if a chicken is Neither an Ally nor an Enemey, then I guess Bloodlust wouldn't be triggered.

The basic assumption you are making is that "chickens are available for purchase", I think we in the past had a discussion about asking for new rules to cover weird and or unbalanced views on rules.

As a GM I would just laugh and say no, what you are proposing seems to be deliberately skirting the intention of all of the things those spells are intended to do. and Right now I really wish i could link back to the Henry quote of (me paraphrasing here) "its not the letter of the rules, its the intent of the rules you need to pay attention to"

However, if you show up as "the Chicken Mage", because one of the most important bylines of Arcanis is "actions have consequences" you might have trouble getting information from NPCs or even getting hired in the first place, while you have a (questionable) mechanical ploy, it can have devastating, social consequences.

Also, to bring the chickens with you, you must carry a coop with you. Each chicken adds 1 bulk to you (which stacks with everything), and you can only carry 3 such chickens on you at any time. It is a Demanding Skill Action (7 ticks) to remove the Chicken, which leaves you open to Free Strikes.

and that Cody is a great response also about how proliferation of the rules ultimately is in the hands of the GM and not the players, particularly in a shared world campaign..

Thanks Cody!

 Well I sure missed the forums these past few months! Glad to see that I can still stir up a debate. Henry's no you can't do that was more than sufficient for me. But has been great fun watching you guys lawyer your way out my crazy idea. The other Eric's explanation though was certainly worth the read.
