I think I know the answer to this, but I thought I'd check: Would a Stance Talent (ie: Forward Stance) stack with a talent such as Smite Infidel? They both provide static die bonus', but is a stance considered a talent or another 'source' of a bonus? |

Both talents; both bonus die. So no, they shouldn't stack. Having said that, I don't have access to the draft errata from this computer, which has quite a few of theses sort of conflicts providing a die bump instead. |

One is a once per scene bonus, and the other you are sacrificing a bonus to attack for a bonus to damage. If I were GMing I'd allow it, in my mind they are two different things, despite both being talent based. |

both are Talent sources that give die bumps, they do not stack |

It was my assumption (and how I've been playing it myself) that they did NOT stack because they were talents. However, because one was listed as a Stance, I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. |

There is a very good sidebar on Pg5 of the FAQ that very clearly defines how stacking works. Quote: All bonuses come from one of the following sources: Ally, Talent, Skill, Spell, Path, Item, Magic Item, Racial, Combat Maneuver and Untyped. There are three bonus types: Static (a fixed bonus such as a +1 or a +2), Die (such as adding a d6 or a d8) and Die Bump (increasing a die type to the next largest die.)" both of the items in question fall into Talents (stances are not separated out) and both "add a die" so they don't stack. |

That seems pretty powerful. Forward Stance, Sweeping Arcane Strike, massive damage rules, I am seeing a high probability of wounding 2-3 people at once. |

Forward Stance cannot be used with any fighting style and by extension with Arcane Strike. Fighting Styles (Arcane Strike is part of the Arcimous Primus Fighting style) are all stances you enter. John |

yup its pretty easy to miss that the CoH fighting styles are stances, but thats keyed in from the talent you take to get the style |

Quote: "[Limited] Martial techniques may only be learned through a Warrior advancement option, path, fighting style, or talents with the exception of Learn Martial Technique." Ok would whoever wrote the lead in to New Martial Techniques on page 109 of the COH that I quoted above please explain what they meant here? I think what was meant was this: "[Limited] Martial techniques may only be learned through the Martial Archetype advancement option 'Gain the Learn Martial Technique Talent, twice', a path that grants Learn Martial Technique (the specific maneuver), taking the Learn Fighting Style talent, or other talents that grant the specific maneuver, this does not include the talent Learn Martial Technique except as previously noted." |
