As a GM I would let the caster dictate the "direction" of the threat as part of the casting of the spell, causing the individual to flee in a particular direction.

This is not official, because it is one of those things we leave the Chronicler, but I would have the person flee from the caster unless it was cast with subtlety in which case I would have them flee in a random direction.
