I see no reason why not. The rules seem straightforward. The armor isn't being destroyed, it's being just being modified.

Its going to be really expensive. Start saving.

The modification cost is listed in the spell description. Its just a matter of whether you do the 'cheap' T2 version or the expensive T4 Wings of the Valinor version strait away.
